2021 10-year Congenital MOC Milestone

Eligibility, Deadlines, and Fee
The 2021 10-year MOC application period for Congenital Cardiac Surgery is March 1  April 30, 2021. No applications will be accepted after April 30, 2021. 

Ensure that you refer to the Congenital Cardiac Surgery MOC Booklet of Information for the Board requirements. There is a $500 application fee.

Application Process
This year, the application will be online through the Board's new web portal. Diplomates can access the portal by clicking the "Sign in" button on the top of this page.  If this is your first time signing into the portal, click the "Forgot Password" link, enter your email address on file with the Board, and follow the instructions to create a new password. Once you are on your portal page, you should first update your contact information on the Profile Tab. You can also personalize your portal page by adding an optional photo.  

To access your 10-year Milestone application, login to your ABTS portal page and click the Application Button found on the left-hand side of the portal page. 

A confirmation email will be sent to Diplomates when the application is submitted. Another email will be sent when the application has been approved.

Case requirements for the 10-year Milestone are as follows:
"Diplomates must submit a log of all major cases performed during any twelve (12) consecutive months of the two year period immediately preceding the Congenital Cardiac Surgery MOC application (for example, in 2020 the case log could include cases from December 1, 2018November 30, 2019), and must meet the following case requirements:

Case Requirements - Surgical Volume
In order to maintain active certification status, Diplomates are required to provide documentation of having performed or directly supervised at least fifty (50) major congenital cardiac surgeries in patients 18 years of age or younger, or re-operation of prior congenital cardiac surgery on patients of any age during the twelve (12) consecutive month reporting period.  Up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) specified STAT Category 4 and 5 cases in which the applicant has materially participated in the critical portion of the case with another congenital cardiac surgeon may be counted toward the requirement."

MOC Examination
Eligible Diplomates whose 10-year congenital MOC applications were approved must take and pass the MOC Exam, which is available online between September 1 to October 29, 2021. Eligible Diplomates are able to log in and out of the exam within this timeframe. The online examination tests fundamental and practice-related knowledge. The MOC Exam can be taken at your home or office provided that you have an Internet connection. 

The 2021 MOC Examination is due online by October 29, 2021.
